Console advice
on: July 03, 2006, 19:52:36 PM
Right a month or so back i created a thread about which console to get for my birthday, and im still thinking about it, and im wondering if the advice is still the same. so a couple of quesitons really :

(1) What will ps3 have over the 360?
(2) ^^ Vice-versa.
(3) What about the Sony PSP, or does the psp not have much of a future?
(4) In the end im looking at what to buy for at the start of september. I dont want the console to play all the time, just the odd occasion when im not busy. Im into football/sports/driving kind of games, not shooters or anything too heavy.

Thanks for any advice :)

Wii60!

I love my 360, but I know Ill love my Wii even more, depends if youre into the whole "nintendo experience" or not.

For driving games, 360 I think is the way to go. You get awesome arcade racers like PGR3 and Forza 2 is shaping up to be awesome. The Gran Turismo HD demo from Sonys press conference at E3 sent everyone to sleep. Plus XBox live arcade has Uno and you should come on just to hear Chaostime pretend to be a Russian bouncer for an hour :)
It's all fun and games until a 200' robot dinosaur shows up and trashes Neo-Tokyo… Again.

Dont forget about his ukranian friend Goblin

:D :D :D

The PS3 is still an unknown, until it is released and in the hands of the consumer noone will know how good or bad it is. You can speculate about all the problems or possible bonuses, but you would be wasting your time.

At the moment I would say a 360 for the kinda games you want, for a different style of gaming definately the wii.

The psp isnt worth it atm, their arent anywhere near enough games to make it worth owning, i bought one thinking they would release alot more games.... they didnt.

For handheld the ds is the way to go, there are alot of good and fun games they are totally suited to handheld play, unlike the psp. Plus it seems to have alot of prospects for new games and linking to the wii.

Hope that helps

PS3: Heavenly Sword, Gran Turismo, F1 games, Metal Gear Solid 4, derivative controller.  Expensive.  Bluray player.  Xbox Live derivative.  Did I mention that it was expensive?

Xbox360: Halo, Gears of War, Project Gotham Racing, Oblivion, Dead Rising, DOAX2, DOA4.  Possibly the most comfortable controller ever with one of the worse d-pads ever.  Cheaper than the PS3.  HD-DVD addon in the works. Xbox Live.  Xbox Live Arcade.  Football/Basketball/NFL/Tennis/Table Tennis games already available, some at budget prices.

Wii: Innovative Controller.  Classic console gaming.  Mario.  Super Games Designer.  Cheapest.  Third Party Support?  Only slightly more powerful than an Xbox1.

PSP: Some very good games.  Some very bad games.  Good for driving games.  Lumines.  Loco Poco.  Portable Katamari Damacy!  Able to run homebrew on some versions, so portable Classic Console emulation.

No I didnt, its included in the Classic Console :)  Its a sweeping term.  It does not include the Game Gear, that was a POS.

I hope you dont include Revenge of Shinobi, that was by far the best version ever. :)
