See I couldn’t eat sausage with something sweet it just seems wrong to me.

Would think the wood would spoil the flavor of the sausage, especially if you ate it down to the bone as it were.  As for sausage with something sweet isnt ketchup sweet?

Having consumed many stick foods, I can confidently say that the wood is not a problem.

Some woods can improve the flavour. TBH, unless it splinters, there is no detrimental issue.

A lot of food preference is what you are used to rather than how it tastes or nutrition.
