Does anyone really care? I have 8mb here and its fast enough. Theres no application out that requires anything faster.

^ Sam just shows know idea
I been on 40mb download and my god - WANT IT
Were you happy with your modem when at the time things worked fine? or 1mb?
Cant say your happy with your speed becuase more is better and there are plenty of things like ftp uploading work and a lot more, gaming as well that needs more.
An ever increasing mass watch media or radio over the net as well for example

But increasing to 40mb isnt gonna download the bbc homepage any quicker because its instant anyway.

And people wanted to upgrade from a modem because they took 10 seconds to load a page.

The only reason some people want 100mb broadband is so they can pirate even more films than the wasters do already.

I have 20mbit, and its nice to have the capability to use voip on the highest quality codecs, and download isos in a matter of minutes, browsing the internet is as snappy as its going to be, and its bloody brilliant to enter threads on forums that say "56k beware" and load the entire page in under a minute, despite the fact that the images on the page are 20mb a pop.

Im moaning about people moaning about 8/16 being rubbish.

Come on then what do you do that requires 100mb, other than being a cheap ass and pirating films.

Lol no. What youre comparing it to is your £8 a month tiscali account. Seriously voip does not need 20mb, youre deluded. Its f**king audio.

Instead of quoting films, answer the question.

Im connected @ 4.7 and i wouldnt complain if it was 42.7mb, i really need more upload than download..... 10mb/up would be sweet!

I heard something about the idea of fibre optics being layed down in the sewers instead of digging up the ground this is meant to save 3-4 months of work to 3 weeks!

You can, but due to the sh*tty upload on 8mbit, you get considerable issues with browsing at the same time if youre using the higher quality codecs.

That said the lower quality ones, arent particularly bad, its just nice to have spare capacity should I need to do something.

Also.... yum update over 20mbit, is damn nice, damn damn nice.

Sure 8mbit is great, but virgin offer, 4mb or 20mbit in my usage range... as I dont have a phone line, I went for the higher one. :)
