A West Texas cowboy

A West Texas cowboy was tending his herd in a remote pasture when
suddenly a shiny new foreign-made sedan advances out of a dust cloud
towards him. The driver, a young-ish man in ultra-expensive attire,
leans out the window and asks the cowboy, "If I tell you exactly how
many cows and calves you have in your herd, will you give me a calf?"

The cowboy looks at the man, then looks at his peacefully grazing herd
and calmly answers, "Sure, Why not?" The man parks his car, whips out
his notebook computer, connects it to his cell phone, and calls up a GPS
locator to get an exact fix on his location. He feeds the location to a
satellite that scans the area in an ultra-high-resolution photo. The
young man then exports the digital photo to an image processing
facility. Within seconds, he receives an email on his handheld that the
image has been processed. He accesses their database and after a few
minutes, receives a response. He prints out a full-color report on his
portable wi-fi printer and turns to the cowboy and says, "You have
exactly 1,586 cows and calves."

"Thats right. Boy, howdy! Thats sure impressive! Go ahead and take one
of my calves," says the cowboy.

He selects an animal and stuffs it into the trunk of his car. The
cowboy wagers; "Hey, if I can tell you exactly what your business is,
will you give me back my animal?" The young man thinks about it for a
second and then agrees, "Why not?"

"Youre a consultant for the Republican Party." says the cowboy.

"Wow! Thats correct, but how did you guess that?"

"You showed up here even though nobody called you; you want to get paid
for an answer I already knew, to a question I never asked and you tried
to show me how much smarter than me you are; and you dont know a damn
thing about cows or calves... now give me back my dog.
