Nope AFAIK its electricity only.  Id guess the muscles interpret the current as motor neuron action potentials and contract suddenly.  The bodys reaction to heat is a reflex reaction which should lead to you jerking that part of your body away from the heat source.  Think thats right, any medics round here should be able to confirm though  :?
