How did it go?

I see no reason why you should be under any pressure. :hunf:

I forwarded emails from my old bosss mailbox to the CEO and got him sacked.

Just tell him he did it, and get him sacked.

Was OK actually - weird feeling in the dept though - the guy whod got punched came in to speak with HR and then left to go to the hospital and get his eye/face seen to - the manager had a meeting with HR then went home - all the people who were present last night were asked to provide statements - basically I just told them what I saw.

I dont know what went through the managers head - hes highly likely to have lost his job and potentially could get charged by the police - if he gets a criminal record then hell never be allowed to work in the city again - talk about bad judgment.

Yeah - he should never have stepped outside.  Was he very drunk or something?  There must have been something pretty serious said for him to be so stupid.

he soundelnt end up with a criminal record, it was a mutal thing (or he can argue it was anyway) so at worst itll be a caution.....

and tbh, I doubt either of them will be pushing the police to do anything about it.... if no-one else was involved, and they both just want to forget about it the police wont give a rats ass about it... theyve got beter thinigs to do.... like paperwork ;)

Manager has been sacked! Was apparently in a meeting with HR + a director this morning and left looking like he was going to cry.

Wonder how hes going to explain it to his wife!

Jeez, That is harsh. Obviously he was way out of line, but this could literally ruin his life because of a drunken punch up. How will he explain to a prospective employer why he left his last job. What if, like a lot of people, he pays his mortgage with this months pay cheque?

Not to say he didnt bring it on himself, but, damn...
It's all fun and games until a 200' robot dinosaur shows up and trashes Neo-Tokyo… Again.

Its a bit unfair, what goes on outside work stays outside work.

Like when school used to try and give me a detention for fighting in the park at night, I was like....er....no?

he had a position of responsibility - couldnt really see this going any other way.

Luckily if hes just joined he could simply ommit this company and carry on. If he has skills then he should be able to get another job fast. In his situation Id be tempted to switch continent so it didnt come back to haunt me or make it to a new employer by word of mouth tho

so if the head teacher put you in hospital on a school trip you would say that it was outside school and should stay outside school?

this manager is about 20 years older than the techie not to mention being his managers manager and it was a work trip

he hasnt been there long tbh.. and doesnt really know much about our products so would be no use to a client (a few of whom know about the incident anyway so no chance there) - has was basically just a manager who come across from another very large financial/tech firm in order to re organize parts of our department - I hope hes experienced enough with his previous firms technology to get a contracting/consulting position because I cant see him getting a senior management position anywhere else as that would require a head hunter & long recruitment process. Would be very hard to explain any gap - he cant just say he left his previous firm and then did nothing - if youre young you could go traveling etc...if youve got a wife and kids youd only normally leave somewhere to move somewhere else. Pretty normal for companies in the city to require 10 years of work history and then have it verified via a private detective agency.

I see what you were getting at soop - if it was a team leader vs someone from a different team or two colleagues youd hope theyd agree to say nothing etc... this one was in front of about 15 people from work outside a restaurant booked by the company which we use fairly regularly
