no im not, at least it works properly, even if it is somewhat insecure and lacks a few features.  At least you can hack the features in and sort the security out if you know what to do.

I still maintain that SMF is the best of the free PhP based Bulletin Board systems.  I use vBulletin myself, found it less crashy and prone to corruption than IPB.  IPB used to died a horrible death every month or so on my website.  vB i pretty much set up and let run aside from security updates.

That isnt a problem, its the need to have a forums that works on Java with everything else on Sams server.

If it were just a few squid for forum software then I would pay it.

Go for it, as long as it remains the same tekforums we know and love.
Same mods and admins (bar the new section).

my votes a yes, but maybe an exit strategy agreed before the link up should things go wrong, and I assume Sam keeps rights to the URL.

I dont really see the big deal with the forum software - I mean the general look and feel is about the same as any other out there so I dont see it as a major problem

the only forums that irritate me are the ones where you get loads of tree type thread with replies to individual posts - i.e. the who forum ends up with RE.RE.RE.RE.RE.RE.RE post.... etc... and is generally a big mess and hard to follow

Theres a few things with this board.  The settings panels broken - you cant set appear offline for example.

You cant get RSS feeds of new posts (live bookmarks for example).

Just random stuff like that really.  Its not the disaster some people paint it to be.  It works, looks fairly standard and isnt noticeably slow.
