Ive not got access to one at the moment to check but doesnt the headphone remote thing work on all iPods?  That would give you skip, volume, stop, start etc without taking it out of your pocket.

Probably, I will have one in a few weeks will let people know if paul does not do so first

I decided to be helpful and went upstairs to find one.

The earphone remote controls do work with both the iTouch and the iPhone giving you access to locking/unlocking, play, pause, stop, forwards/backwards and volume.
