Darwin might be wrong !!!

In that learned behaviour cannot be inherited.

Stressed hens (by altering dayligt randomly so they had hard to learn when fedingtime etc.) made learning more difficult and changed behaivor. Chickens from those hens but never subjected to strange conditions together with "nonaltered" test group showed the same problem as their parents and had changes in the same genes as their parents !!!!

had wondered about this a when I was a kid - how much our genes change  over time etc.. and how much of this change gets passed on...

Had a fat scout leader who had two kids in the scout troop - the older one was  normal build reasonably fit etc.. the younger one was a complete fatty. The scout leader was, at one time, supposedly quite a fitness freak but then went a bit lazy after having his first kid..

I did wonder at the time if the state the parent is in at the point of conception has any bearing on certain traits the kid might pick up.

Thats pretty cool if true.  Wonder what affect that has on the gay inheritance arguments etc.

Itd be nice to think you can improve your childs genetics by working on yourself.  Would be a society motivator.  Id have some questions about if the new born chicks were left with the stressed parents and if it was that contact that passed things along, etc but always wondered about how much was nature and nurture.

The chicks had no contact with their parents.

About fat people new research I heard on the radio today say if you get a certain gene from both of your parents you get fat in 70% of the cases !!!

Managed to find an article in english about the chickens so you do not have to rely on my bad memory and translation.
