London underground - lazy drivers?
on: April 04, 2006, 12:00:44 PM
Does anyone else think that striking tube workers are a bunch of moaning, over paid, lazy fat bastards?

Seriously I was on the DLR the other day & the driver had his kid sat next to him pushing the buttons while he sat back and read a copy of the sun

Seems a couple of other chaps share my views & no only that - they have actually gone to the bother of making a song all about it. Enjoy:

(posted in GD as I was wondering what people thought of the tube drivers as well as wanting to share the funny song)

Completely agree with you - but Im a little confused about a driver on the DLR as the DLR is supposed to be automated - ie no drivers.

nope - they have drivers - they just sit on thier ass on a passenger type seat at the front with a small console. Occasionally Ive seen them pushing buttons  at stations - other times they get up and walk down the train checking tickets.

edit - actually just checked - you are quite correct - the bloke who sits at the front of the DLR is technically not a driver apparently they are "passenger service agents" LMAO - they only control the doors but can take control of the train in emergencys.

They are definitely a bunch of moaning, overpaid workers but lazy? Depends on your translation of that, some security workers will do a lot less while others will do more. Some bosses do a half day a week at a meeting and earn £££££££.

The old drivers probably did less than the Passanger Service Agents if they check tickets

It also depends on how much you need to live in a given area, London is more expensive than elsewhere in the country, mainly because of house prices.

there all lazy basterds !

tunnels closed too, causing havock :(

slaughterhouses had the right idea, (there inspectors were striking)....  so 200+ polish inspectors were shipped over to work for a few days :)  (1 or 2 per slaughterhouse depending on size)
