Large package couriers
on: May 31, 2008, 22:30:43 PM
For once Im at a loss to find a suitable courier to transit my old 22" CRT, its 38kg,  589mm x 647mm x 654mm packaged

So far Ive not found anywhere that does not want silly money for shipping, it seems to fall outside all the standard tariffs. Anyone have any suggestions?

Weights and sizes
Your parcel must not weigh more than 30kg, have any one dimension longer than 1.5m, and the total size of the longest dimension added to the size of measuring round the thickest part must be no more than 3m.

This seems to be the case for everyone Ive tried.

Out of interest...where does it need to go? Could you not appeal to any nearby forum members?

I dont think anyone wants it, I was going to stuff it on ebay, hence the shipping queries.

The wieght and size makes it impractical to keep - unless I fancy using it as a dinner/coffee table. Ill look at interparcel.

Too large/heavy for interparcel too :(

If it really must go then put buyer collects as delivery terms.

Im not giving up my 21" Iiyama until its dead and gone to screen heaven.

Same deal with Parcel2Go, thanks though Rich!

I wonder how people courier all these large 40/50" LCDs? Im waiting on a quote back from City Link.

:( Think its down to health and safety, workers arent allowed to lift more than 30 kg or something.

I used to have to be a porter sometimes at B&Q because we were delivering something exceedingly heavy.

Wont it be worth about £20 anyway? Seems unlikely to be worth the hassle Id have thought?

I use a local courier to ship engines etc over to the mainland. a full engine and gearbox on a pallet - is about £60

Seems to be the case that it would have to go palleted - youre right Soy its probably only going to get £20 anyway so Ill stick it on as collection only and see what happens.
