ink!
on: March 26, 2007, 21:09:38 PM
Well Im thinking (well certain) of getting a tattoo.

Ive researched it and ive been thinking about it for a long time - below is a basic idea of my design.

Its supposed to depict a crop circle (Our family home where ive grown up is right next to milk hill which is the highest point in Wiltshire, near avebury and the stones and something we are very famous for here on my doorstep is crop circles). I took the design from a local crop circle that appeared last year and changed it a little.

The three green circles (two slightly deformed) represent me and my younger brother and younger sister.

Me and my sister are both off to University at the end of the summer.

Im wanting to get it below my right elbow.

So out of interest, has anyone else got any tattoos?

What are peoples opinions on tattoos?

I like that mate. I like ones with thought behind them. Ones I dont like is random panthers, clawing your skin etc

Go for it. Im not a big fan of stupid stuff like ass handlebars on women and the like, but a classic tear if youre a murderer is always nice. Ive got three. One is little My sledding down my shoulder, a hot dog with mustard and relish on my leg, and a copy of a viking rock carving on one arm. If I had time, money, and a good concept, Id have full sleeves. :D Make sure that whatever you get is done by the best artist you can find. Color inks need to be accurately placed in the skin in order to last. Remember to always put sunscreen on it when out in the sun, or such colors will fade FAST.

Why not? We humans have been doing it for thousands of years. If you really regret it when youre 60, something small like that is very easily lasered off.

people are going to slag you off for getting one.... and there not for me.... but the only thing i think is important, are your reasons for getting one... if you want to do it to be different and unique (which i dont think you do) they dont..... how the hell does doing what everyone else does to be unique, make you unique?

anyway.... nice personal designe, if your going for it, then go for it ;)

As long as youre not one of these types that gets Kenji for "peace" (oft scripted as "bollocks") youll have nothing to regret later.

I like the fact youve made an informed decision to do it, youll probably be very proud because of the sentiment.

Ive had two tatoos since I was 17 (had to have my dad there), one is an african Gazelle (sp?) and the other is a symbol.

Both are silly to other people, but very personal to me. It doesnt matter what other people think about you, get want you want. Both of mine remind me of things I never want to forget.

As a side note, mine are on the top of each arm, so wearing a t-shirt or formal shirt is no problem. Keeping tats out of sight seems to be important for employers.

Also, I would take a few weeks, even months, to think about the tat you want, it aint going anywhere once you have it, so be 110% sure you want it.

If you are going to do it then that is probably the best piece of advice.

Just one thing I would add - I dont know much about the technology used to create tattoos or how much techniques have changed but we used to have an old warrant officer in a unit I served with whod got pretty horrible skin grafts on both arms - every time we went away hed give us the same warning about going into town and getting tattoos - his skin somehow got infected by the ink over the years (according to him yellow ink is the worst for this) and he has had to go through some painful minor surgery as a result.

Nice. Who cares what other people think, you have your own reasons for wanting it and its obviously something youve actually thought about and means something.

It's all fun and games until a 200' robot dinosaur shows up and trashes Neo-Tokyo… Again.

Make sure its in an area thats easily hidden and preferably not too big. If you change your mind later they can be removed but a big one will be a problem.

Rather than making it green make it red, it will be less visible against your skin and look neater.

TBH, when I first looked at it I thought it was some elaborate maths puzzle.
