Bluetooth finally here
on: May 02, 2006, 12:26:13 PM
CSR i think is the company, today their profit margin stands at 360%.
OUCH

TBH i will say grats to the main guys behind it, it took time and it must have had many ropey years for them.

It will go further then pcs and mobile phones, i think if they get around issues still surrounding it we will see it in much more things.

I dont know what this is about, but I think Bluetooth is rubbish, I dislike it almost as much as Wi-Fi. I hope it dies, horribly.

Luddite.

Grr, I hate lightbulbs.  Bring back regular fires.  And while were at it, get rid of fridges and well salt all our meats and put them on a cold slab.

I just cant stand technology that doesnt work. In a world of gimmick versus practical, Ill take practical. Give me Cat 5 and USB.

There are lot of usefull applications for Wifi other than home/office networking.  For example, a project that was recently demonstrated to me...

I agree bluetooth can vary on the stress meter depending on the phone.

Also, I also dont have a clue what this thread is about.  :?  :?:

Well, Ive never had any real problems with it other than the odd occasion where it looses pairing or disconnects abruptly (like any good WiFiesque product seems to  ), my problem is more that its slow and sh*te. Its not that much better than infra red for transfers because it is so slow and all the earpieces were crap last time I checked. Im just plain unimpressed with it is all. Poke me with a stick if need be and call be a boring sod.

The bluetooth on your phone is 723Kbps.
Thats the same for anyone with a "Fast" bluetooth connection.

For syncronising your phone, sending photos and vids to mates on their phones thats plenty fast enough!

the obsession with blutooth on phones annoys me, it took me months to source a data cable for my old T68i because everyone looked at me blank when i asked and offered me a bluetooth dongle.  I cant wear earpieces because I cant stick anything in my ears or i start feeling sick.  Data transfer is slow and the security is next to none-existant because they say that PANs dont need it due to their low range.

My smartphone can do sync over bluetooth, wifi and cable.  It comes with a sync lead.

I agree with the security but do you "really" need it?   Since bluejacking the phone manufacturers have made it harder to send anonimous messages and almost impossible for phonebook hacking.

Easiest security is making it non discoverable and only turning the bluetooth on when you need it.
