...this is the first time Ive managed to get banned from a forum.
Forums in question are for a game called blood wars. When I last read a review of it the thing said repetitive and boring, which is absolutely true. The reason Ive been using it is my bro works in an area where mobile phones arent allowed, and he might be anywhere in the grounds. So communicating with him at work is difficult. The game is simple and runs in a browser, plus he can leave it at any time. His employer either turns a blind eye or permits him, and other people, to use it, Ive never asked which.
Internet reviews are misleading of how the game really is, so.
The game plays rather like an early point and click adventure game, without the puzzles. You set up your characters stats then go Ambush (kill) someone elses character, it gives a report back in the form of a text message as to what happened. You can also go on quests, you select where you want to go and it messages you with a report, based on the percentage chance of success you have. These take time to do, so Ambushes can take from 4 minutes up to 2 hours plus of twiddling your fingers. Quests take 5, 10 or 30 minutes. Then there is Expeditions, a group of people join together and go kill a dragon or other mystical beast, and yes, it comes back as a text based report with a pic of the monster that has killed you all/ you have killed. Repeat ad-infinitum. You can sort of upgrade items you find and at lvl 20 you get to buy from the auctions. There are supposed to be Sieges so your Clan (group of players) can take over someone elses square but those are almost inevitably arranged or done to abandoned accounts.
The official money is Lgo, which you can upgrade with but cant use to buy stuff in auctions, although you can sell it for stones. The stones are used both to upgrade things or buy auction items. The problem is if you have a 10 value stone and need a single you have to break it, which costs you half its value. Yep, its inexplicably stupid too.
Its fairly obvious most people have abandoned their accounts and the game hasnt been updated properly in ages. Perhaps there are 1000 people still left on the server. The players either hope that the game will be updated to give it new life and that a new server will come on line sometime or theyve given up on hopeing. The one thing the developers have is that most of those who do still play the game do so because of their sense of loyalty to it is intense.
The Mods seem to be very odd. They all play the game, of course, but they either do nothing or shoot off warnings to you with very little information on why they did it. I havent seen one of them edit or remove a post yet. Their main job seems to be deciding which posts are spam and issuing warnings, 4 warnings and you get banned.
Do I care Ive been banned, nope, thats their choice. Really I dont give a s*** and to some extent Im proud of it. If it wasnt for the easier communications I would drop the whole game, which I might do anyway.
