you can use it abroad, but getting credit is annoying as you need English money,

best advice is, get a pay as you pop phone over there and get onto their local telco to give you a landline deal to the uk, or get your folks on skype.

Thanks m8, need a contact number for things like dog and removals and using current pay as you go and only a for a bit over there and change over to another network I will be doing as long as it works I can put a fair amount of credit on to last

I got told by Orange I can keep my number and use it over there so that should be sorted

You can, but it might be expensive to do so. And dont expect 35p a minute.

My cousin occasionally comes over from Switzerland where she lives and she has a UK PAYG phone to use for the few days that she is here. Paid for itself every year so far over using her normal one.

Looked it up. On Orange PaYG expect £1.75 min to phone and £1.00 min to receive. AFAIK both the person phoning and answering will pay so its going to be expensive. Sending a text costs 50p but getting one is free.

Best to buy one as soon as you arrive or change sim if you can.
