Iv just done a Vista test on my main rig this evening and even though it did seem quite fast after installing all the drivers and all that but i didnt like the way it starts & shuts down the computer like when shutting down after it says windows is shutting down the screen will go blank for 5 seconds and then the hard disk will turn off as it makes the noise and then another 5 seconds it finally turns off.

just ordered a new n/b waterblock and pump for my watercooling setup.... (old block is too restrictive, and pump is on the way out!).... looked at the ddr2 prices and desided to buy 8gig.... so I think Ill give vista another go....

think Ill dual boot with xp64 and vista64 :)

I was having a few problems with my new laptop, e.g. the network issues and various other things.

Installed XP and never looked back... dont miss vista in the slightest!

Same with the stupid unfixable network issues (well apart from doing a fresh install) and the gaming performance is shocking compared to XP 64.

 I’m dual booting as well cant remember the last time I fired Vista up! lol

I still hate Vista. I dont hate Server 2008 but then again theres no real reason for me to use it. Ubuntu is my OS of choice on most of my gear, its so much more powerful & versatile.

Vista = Epic Fail-boat.

The stuttering is because you have a creative sound card.  I swapped out for a Fortissimo III and its fine.

Ive had no problems with Networking or file sharing. In fact it all seems to just work much better than in XP, which was for me, the classic daddy of "you do not have permission to access this resource" and suchlike messages.

Mine worked flawlessly on my work laptop until I reinstalled BSD (Out of necessity I might add)

The amount of people who complain about Vista is worrying. Considering its all issues you can address using a quick google search, even novices have no excuse. People dont seem to like change.

Its quicker than xp was on my machine, and its only an a64 @ 3ghz n 2gb ddr.

OK.  Got Vista Business x64 reinstalled alongside a fresh XP64 boot.  The Vista Boots up faster, but at that point the similarity ends.  The XP64 boots just hammers away without a care in the world.  ~6:30 to burn 4.6Gb of data to a DVD., Vista took the better part of 20 minutes.  Thats using the same burning software, on exactly the same hardware, using the same disks burning the same data.

Ok!!! ...if its so easy can you go google “how to fix network share after installing SP1” (it worked before btw) and if you can find a answer that works and doesn’t include a reinstall  I will forever admit my noobieness :D
