Terminal services and citrix
on: February 25, 2008, 01:28:00 AM
I just setup a virtual domain with a citrix server, its working well but id like to learn more about it, problem iv got is that the TS license will die after 120 days as it hasnt got one, and if that doesnt take the environment down then the citrix developers license dies within a year, anyone know a way round this? or know if the TS license will take the citrix with it?

Im such a n00b to citrix and TS id love to be able to mess around in my test environment without having to roll it all back every few months.

Any suggestions?

need to register the TS licence, or Citrix wont work IIRC.  Im doing mt CCA stuff at the moment, and my last job was supporting Citrix.  IIRC Citrix needs valid TS licences to run on with W2k Server and 2k3 server.  Though I think MS has done some changes for 2k8 server and Vista with the TS licencing terms.

You can get round the terminal server licenses with a simple per user trick - Ill let you work out where thats done to avoid any legalities....

I might be able to dig you out some license files off my old laptop. We were a platinum partner in my old company

Ive recently got the CCIA - Beaker, I still owe you a questions & answers doc for the CCA!

heh, I think i might know the trick, but its one ive been told and never tried.  The Q&A doc would be awesome if you dont mind.  Itll be a couple of months before I do the exam, but Im practicing at the moment.  Ive done Citrix support and setups before, but Im now seeing how many corners we used to cut so things got done faster!
