Thought Id finally give it a try, so heres my impressions after using it for a week on my triple-boot work laptop.
Pros:
*Nice new Aero Interface, but nowhere near as good as Beryl (Beryl will soon do everything that Aero does and more anyhow via its ever expanding line of included plugins).
*Searching for files is a lot faster compared to XP.
*Finally! Explorer has been re-written from the ground up. Only somehow they made it worse, file copying is slower than in XP, and even slower than in Ubuntu.
Cons:
*Inferior OpenGL and D3D support.
*Slower boot up, shut down.
*Slower performance while running.
*More bullsh*t to disable/turn off.
*Ugly half assed 3d interface.
*Poor speech recognition.
*DRM, everywhere WMP 11 is just
MS lock-in with bling to entice you in.
*IE7 is rubbish compared to Konqueror, Opera, and Firefox.
*Many older apps/games that worked fine in XP no longer work or crash.
*Lousy default theme.
So goodbye, Windows, this copy of Vista is getting sent back to the store. *boots back to Ubuntu Feisty
to play Halo*
