Thanks for those. Im not too keen on the cases tbh as id like to keep it as quiet as possible and im not sure what the PSUs on those cases will be like. I think bacons right on the RAM ting, id rather get crucial ram as its only a few quid extra.

Would you guys go for the AMD rather than the C2D cpu then?

kk, That Q-pack has nicer cooling than the Antec, but its your case, and you have to look at it.  I know what its like when you have a case you hate.

AMD purely because of cost.  If you had another £150 to spend then its straight to a decent Intel like an e8500, but for £350 you are balancing the budget.  If you do go AM2 then make sure the motherboard is AM2+ designed, not just compatible.  That allows you to upgrade to an AM3 chip at a later date if required.  Intel are changing the socket on the next-gen, and in 18 months or so when you are due a midlife update youll likely start having issues getting a decent CPU.

I dont think id upgrade for at least 3-4 years so I was thinking of trying out an intel build this time, is the E5200/E7200 not as good compared to the similar price AMD versions? Reviews seem to suggest its better and runs cooler.

I think I may hold off buyig a gfx card for a couple of months and use the integrated gfx and then look at buying something like the 9800GT silent edition, what do you think? Would there be any issues fitting it into the above case as it looks massive   -)

AMD is more processing power in the lower price range, if your going to overclock then i would suggest intel, i wouldnt touch intel unless i was going for an 8400 at least. The processor i pointed out in my last build was the 45w energy efficient AMD.

Cases you have many choices, but earlier you said you wanted Small form factor, thus shuttle. Now your asking for silent case, but Shuttle isnt silent, it still makes noise, so its confusing what do you actually want?

You could move up to Mini/Midi tower and go for an Antec the entry level ones come with good psus. And with the videocard, earlier you didnt want to spend £100 on one, but now you do :P

Totally confused.

How does it compare in terms of performance to the E5200/E7200, cant find a benchmarks for it on toms hardware.

The shuttle ive got at the moment (SN41G I think) has been pretty close to silent but then I suppose it is 5 years old and things have probably changed so the newer models may not be as quiet.

I was thinking of using the integrated gfx for a few months and hopefully that card would have fallen a bit in price by then.

Sorry, partly my fault, partly because everyone keeps on suggesting different options  :w00t:
