I may be behaving quite thick here but what exactly are they selling out for, I thought they had been out for aaaaaaaaaaages and as such stocks should be plentiful?

Why has the world gone mad for them (I thought the Xbox360 was the daddy these days)?

I think the Wii appeals to people (myself included) who havent really bothered with consoles in the past. (Why would I buy a 360 or PS3 if Ive got a PC that does the same job?) The control system is so unique that its a real "play it with your mates" type of console, and everyone who has been around has had an absolute blast. I havent had so much fun with a games console since Mario Kart on the SNES.

Xbox certainly isnt the daddy as far as sales go, the Wii is outselling everything on the market ATM. They cant make enough of them in the run up to Christmas and stocks were low anyway so the result is a dire shortage. Expect this to continue to Christmas at least.

its a great way of ensuring 100% of your product is sold imo.

It is indeed, its just driving up demand. Every time you go into GAME or gamestation or Virgin or any of the high street stores there is always someone gesticulating frantically to an employee who has to keep telling people they dont have any Wiis in stock.

Like Chris H says, I would never buy a console for games like call of duty. Normal games are just better on a PC.
What I want a wii for is that its a party game, your mates come round and you drink beer and act like a tit with the controller. Its great fun.

No question in this tbh

FPS and RPG and MMO are best on pc, always will be tbh, 3rdperson, driving games and all the others like mass effect etc work well on consoles and that is fine
Bar halo I cant see how people play fps on consoles, I played cod4 demos on both formats and the pc is just a lot better in terms of feel

Basically what I have been saying too. Providing you have the right controllers the PC is best for most things. Unfortunately the Wii controllers are something completely different and allow people to use them in totally new ways. You also dont need a lan for multiple users. For a party game the Wii will win every time and the free Wii sports is probably the killer game. Worth getting one for this alone. Although I have managed to resist it so far.
