Im currently finishing watching Ashes to Ashes and The IT Crowd series 3, which are both awesome. Can anyone recommend some quality TV series to follow onto as I could do with some inspiration...

You cant get something for nothing, so here are the series I have recently watched (in 2009/10) and would recommend to others:

Black Books - hilarious laugh out loud awesomeness
Spaced - simon pegg is a legend. As above, seriously funny
Life on Mars - brilliant story, script and concept, cannot reccommend enough
Ashes to Ashes - not quite as good as Life on Mars (IMO), but still awesome
Inbetweeners - refreshingly crude humour
Trailerpark Boys - not for everyone, but plenty of good entertainment over 6 series and a feature film
Reno 911 - same as above, but IMO not quite as good
24 - soo many hours of tense, well produced action. soo many cliffhanger endings
Prison Break - textbook telly and great storyline
Psychoville - As good if not slightly better than League of Gentlemen

I would prefer to know series that have been and gone so theres no waiting inbetween episodes, but really I will give anything a watch, so long as it comes with approval and sounds up my street.

There are loads of suggestions in there that I think youd enjoy.

The Lost Room - A fantastic mini series about a mysterious room that can take you anywhere in the world, which also contains objects that have different kinds of powers. Add in a child going missing inside the room and her father trying to find out what happend to her, and you have an extremely enjoyable mini series.
The 4400 - Another people get special powers series, but a much more intriguing, and imo satisfying series than Heroes.
Babylon 5 – A great space based drama with plenty of mythology and back-story, which has a central plot spread over 5 years.
Sliders – A fun series about travelling to parallel worlds, the first two series being some of the most enjoyable Sci-Fi I have ever watched. Though the later series do let it down a bit.
Jericho – Terrorists nuke 23 major US cities, which leaves a small US town cut off from the world. Cue an apocalyptic atmosphere where the town’s folk try to survive and piece together what actually happened.
