RAM it in my dell...
on: June 27, 2008, 17:58:21 PM
Probably an odd one but I have a Dell Dimension 5520 and want/need to know what PCXXXX of ram it will take as I want to upgrade it... It currently has PC4200 in it.

Anyone any ideas how I can find out? I have scoured the dell website without any joy...

head over to www.crucial.com/uk and punch the model number into their configurator.

It will recommend the fastest RAM your machine can handle and probably also the largest sticks.

Youi can then use this info to order your RAM from wherever you like, although Crucial have always been a pretty good bet for that too.

Cheers Mongoose, tried that and it recommended 4200 but it also gave 6400 as an "alternative" :/ Not sure if it will take 10600 or not...

Is 6400 Still cheaper?  if so buy that.  Itll just run at whatever speed the system allow it to.  Provided of course the board doesnt try and run it faster.  Rule of thumb I work to is "Faster is fine".  Faster RAM will run slower, but slower RAM will not run faster.
