Firewire connection of two PCs

I dislike Macs intensely but why oh why cant windows machines connect with Firewire without all the attendant TCP/IP/LAN/NETWORK/DATA/FILESHARING bollocks...  :x  :x  :x

I was under the impression that was impossible.

Im wondering more why you want to in the first place?

Because that is computer networking? youd have to do that if you used a Cat5 crossover cable as well (which would be easier than a firewire connection)
