youd need your pc talking to the exchange server, afaik a vpn is the most used solution. IMAP, I dunno anything about but theres always Outlok Web Access, which is kinda like hotmail for exchange.
I know sh*ts bad right now with all that starving bullsh*t and the dust storms and we are running out of french fries and burrito coverings.

Thanks for the reply,

I am using Outlook Web Access at the moment and that works OK but I would much prefer to be able to use Outlook to access it.

In the mean time, I will look into VPNs

Thanks,

Richard

If you upgrade to Outlook 2003, you can use RPC over HTTP. However you will need to speak to your sys admins to enable it on the server and open the port on the firewall.

Yeah, you are going to need to talk to the IT department really

theyll probably have a VPN already working, its just if they let you use it or not for email at home.

if work have set it up you can use your normal work settings, but turn the NT authentication off.  We did this at work for a bit when they where seperating business groups off to another company.

If its locked to only allow connections from the trusted domain then you will ave to stick to using webmail.  Other option is to see if work allow you to VPN in, i know we can if we feel the urge, but TBH why i would want to check work e-mail from home i dont know.

I have tried to setup the exchange in the Mail option in the control panel but no luck there.  I have tried to setup a VPN and it connects but it refuses my username and password.

I suppose I will need to get IT to allow my account on an allow list for the VPN.

If I upgraded to Outlook 2003 would that make things a little easier?

Many thanks,

Richard

VPN from home rocks tbpfh - remote access to everything, including the ability to log in to my softphone and make and receive calls for free, as if i was at my phone extension.

I also have the ability to listen live to calls etc, shadow citrix sessions from the bog if i so desire, the possibilities are endless!

your company can easily block all access to the exchange server apart from outlook web access.  Many companies and universities simply block you doing this all together.

If there is an opening for you to use youll only find out through your IT department.

Its not dependant on what version of outlook you use its purely down to will they let your account log in unfortunately.
