I phoned them today as I though might as well upgrade to Sky+.

£99 for new customers.

£149 for existing customers.  Even those whove paid £5,000+ over the last nine years and left dishes up on three succesive house moves.

C*nts.

Yeah, they do take the piss a bit. We moved over to Sky+ when they were doing it for £79 for new customers and they wanted £150 from us. You just ask to be put through to the cancellations department and tell them you want to cancel because you want to pay the cheaper price. With us they didnt cancel our subscription, they just upgraded us for the cheaper price and even threw in a few months half price subscription.

Hes right, if you cry outrage and dissatisfaction then ask to cancel theyll soon sweeten the deal. They bank on most people either forking out or not having the nuts to actually mean it when they say they will cancel.

Theres no cable in my area so that wont work - they have the monopoly so they know theyve got you over a barrel.

Ive had nothing but good experience so far since getting Sky installed in October. Whenever Ive phoned up theyve been helpful and addressed any issues quickly over the phone, Ive been offered discount rates on extra packages (Im getting all the movie channels half price at the moment) and the one time the line went down once (chavs hit the dish with a football I think) the engineer was out that Sunday to fix it, no charge as its still under warranty.

To be fair ours was about 8 years old so no warrenty. However my policy was were buying a monthly service off you its your job to provide me with the necessary kit to use the service. Hell I get a new mobile each year - they can give me a new sky box after 8!! They saw it my way eventually.

Very good of them, but do you expect your ISP to replace your computer ?

No but i would expect them to replace say the modem they provided.

My parents were with BT Broadband for years, then the old crappy voyager modem died a lovely death. I asked for a replacement modem seeing as we had been with them for so long, they said they could only give us a new HomeHub at full price. I argued bitter hell with them, you would expect considering how long we had been with them, they would just chuck us something so we stay with them, hell an older modem. But no, they refused...

My parents moved to telewest the next day, including phone service.

Get yourself a freeview box and cancel. When they come back whimpering tell em what you want.

Having a 5ft analogue aerial spiking off your roof so you can pick up Trisha and Corrie isnt?

Sky is still a luxury its not chavvy at all, the chavs all get freeview. I certainly wouldnt deny myself such a service on the basis of how a dish looks on my back wall where no one can see it (or give a rats arse).

Do you have your own fibre optic downlink from Skys network then? How else do you maintain people get all the channels, freeview doesnt have half of what Sky has to offer after all.
