My friend has a problem with her computer, and I dont have time to go round and see her.

When in IE, she gets the following error and her internet stops for a bit she says. "Operation Aborted"

I know half the replies will be to use Firefox ;) lol, but she wouldnt want to.

Any ideas? As ive looked on the net, but cant seem to find a solution to email her with.

IE7? Try reinstalling from Add/Remove.

Seems to be a problem with modifying the dom

http://clientside.cnet.com/code-snippets/manipulating-the-dom/ie-and-operation-aborted/

sounds like a js problem.

Is there any dodgy spyware/adware programs on the ie? toolbars etc?

One of those trying to do something dodgy, or having the homepage loading something that causes that problem.

Try loading the options of ie without loading ie itself and changing the homepage if it happens from the get go.

Otherwise it could be a site being visited or said toolbar/spyware/adware

There isnt any tool bars etc on there, but she doesnt have any spyware programs, so will tell her to get some.

Also....in add/remove, where is there option to reinstall IE7? There is only Remove isnt there?  :whoops:

Cheers :)

Add/Remove -> Add/Remove Windows Components -> Internet Explorer.

Worth having Firefox at the ready just so you can go and download IE7 once youve removed it.
