I have never seen a browser chug since IE5 on a pentium pro 200

IE still chugs compared to the others above.

firefox > every other browser

except Opera with its 12mb footprint, mouse gestures as standard, paste&go as standard, speeddial as standard...

 :stupid:

Love Opera. My fav browser by far. Agree with Mark on the speed issue though - internets quick enough now that it makes little difference which browser loads pics quicker etc..

When you work online speed becomes a huge issue, especially when you get into the realms of 40-50 tabs open.

I hate:

boggy unoptimised Flash
sh*tty Applets
people that resize 2.4Mb photos using the browser scaling to 100x100 or whatever.

They should all die horribly.

Flash isnt exactly safe itself, its loaded with potential exploits that have never been patched.

This is untrue. Main stuff was in 8 and you have 10 now. People just do not upgrade and people making flash then set comptability to say 8 and above whch is wrong as it should at least be 9 to get people off 8 which had most of the big security issues recently.

Im with Mark on this one.

Fair enough for my dad using his aging TBird CPU it might make a difference, but memory footprint means nothing to me (did I mention I upgraded to 8gb now? :D ), nor have I seen a website even get close to taxing a modern CPU.

IE for normal browsing.
FF for special browsing.

Just so you know, There is a point of which net speed matters of course but only for images and video and things like flash and actual computer speed has virtually no baring really.

I can easily make two different pages, one very bad and one to my standards and you will defiantly see the difference.
Numbers are important and why you got the firefox firebug addon wslow from yahoo for example and how there is big talk of loading to much in the header element of the page and things like Javascript loaders etc.

To you general users you probably do not care but in terms of development, optimisation and striving for browser speed is more important then ever and will do more so this year with the increased use of JSON for example.

If IE crashes on you - your hardware/OS setup is arse.  :mutley:

What does your browser get?
I can tell you now if you have IE 8 it will Throw a MASSIVE fit at it and either lock up and crash or get a dismal low 20s score. Terrible.
Chrome 2 gets 100/100
Firefox 3.5/.6 gets 100/100
Opera here actually crashes on this for me.
