Woohoo, "Maggot Brain" is here.

Title track has a guitar solo by Eddie Hazel, who was locked in a room by George Clinton and told to "play like your mother has just died".

"One Nation Under A Groove" has not left my car CD player since I got it.  I love every track.  The funk ones are right up my street as I love stuff like James Brown, Sly & The Family Stone, The Meters.  Then the surprising stuff is all the rock and prog rock stuff, some of which almost sounds Pink Floydish.

Funkadelic have blown me away with this album, lets hope Maggot Brain does too.

I could never get into anything funk related. I always kinda felt like I should but I just couldnt warm to it.
Career, Wife, Mortgage... my sig was better when it listed guitars and PC's and stuff!

Great stuff.  Listened to the album("Maggot Brain") 3 times now.

The title track isnt as good as the live version on "One Nation Under a Groove", doesnt sound as polished and after the first 5 minutes, the guitar playing gets a little sporadic in the second 5 minutes.

Theres no disco funk on this album like "One Nation Under A Goove", but instead theres some fine soul and rnb.  The heavier tracks have guitar playing that echo Jimi Hendrix.  "Super Stupid" is simply super!

The album starts off with someone saying "Mother Earth is pregnant for the third time, cause yall have knocked her up. I have tasted the maggots in the mind of the universe...I was not offended, for I knew I had to rise above it all, or drown in my own sh*t."  Excluding the three bonus tracks on the end, it then ends with someone saying "Its a fat funky man." followed by a heartbeat.  Almost like Pink Floyds "Dark Side of The Moon" starts with a heartbeat.

Overall I think I prefer "One Nation Under a Groove", but theyre both damn good really.

Someone has finally recognised the delights that is the p-funk :D

You may wanna look into Parliament too, tis the other name the George Clintons guys went by. I think the main part of the p-funk I appreciate is Bootsy Collins bass playing. Some brilliant musicians involved in all of that.

Also for some excellent recent funky stuff Breakestra are a band you cant go wrong with, I saw them in Camden a year ago and they were amazing.
