Media PC

My friend was in curries and saw a media pc he liked. Its was an Acer M1100. Googling that doesnt bring up pics of it though, just a big PC. This one was tiny, black and sleak.

It was £430 with a 19" TFT, which he didnt want really.

Does anywhere sell prebuilt media pcs which are tiny and look good? Hes connecting it to his 42" LCD. I know making one would be cheaper, but that would be for me to do, and TBH I CBA!

Cheers

I love all this branding nonsense.

A "media" PC.

Does have to even be a PC.  Why not one of those media boxes that can access your stuff over the network. (For lack of their proper name)

what does he want to do with it ?

if you just have films on your pc you want to watch on your tv get a freecom box

Ive got one and love it.... my little brother just bought himself one, and a guy at work is buying one too after seeing mine in use !

you can put a HD in and copy files to it via network or USB and watch them from the HD... or just leave the network cable in and stream stuff directly from any computer connected to the network :)

has played every format Ive thrown at it so far !
(and mines an older one, new ones aer updated too)

plays .avi etc... but will also play DVDs straight from there ISO files if youve downloaded them :)

Well his proper PC is on its way out, so is going to buy a new one.

He will watch/download the occasional movie, use the internet, and burn the occasional CD. Hes connecting it to his TV as well. The one in curries looked good, but IMO was too expensive. He doesnt want a normal tower next to the tv.
