Installing Vista on more than one PC
on: October 15, 2008, 20:36:38 PM
I have got a desktop PC with a full Vista Premium installed (own an original).  Now I have a media center PC downstairs which is totally buggered OS wise and needs a clean install.  It originally had MCE2005 on it, but I just cannot find the discs anywhere let alone the license key.  Basically, can I use my licensed copy on both machines without any problems?  I know its probably not the most legit thing to do, but would get the machine up and running for a couple of months until I decide whether to keep it or not.  I dont want to be without, but then I dont want to have to reinstall again at a later date?  I know you get a month or so trial, but i want something longer term that is secure/updated and will not barf.  Anyone got any experience with this?

Thanks   -)

Could go the open source route, or you could visit one of the friendly websites a lot of us do.

What would happen if I tried to install my version twice?  Will one lock out the other?  With licenced copies of XP you used to be able to phone a number, enter a code and it would give you a new key?
