God damn thats a nice spec.

PSU... something a little beefier than a 500w. Id want it just for the headroom, if you have a 550w theres a good chance youll be topping that one out. :)

I was looking at a similar system, specced it up from some wattage calculator i found on either hardocp or xtremesystems forums.

Decided with a single GPU (mine was based on 8800GT/S 512MB) i figured out Corsair VX550 or Corsair HX520 Modular, both of them had the ampage for the GT/S.

But i reckon plenty more PSUs have got the guts now.

If you want a deal check Scan, but stock sells fast for the FSP psu thats on special atm @ £28

700W FSP700-80GLN SATA/PCI-E 83%+ Eff Green ATX12v 2.01 EPS12v OEM

http://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/other/display/psu-roundup_6.html - the retail version

Of course going for something with a little extra power wont hurt, maybe the 650 Corsair upwards

You can also the use PSU Calc here http://www.corsair.com/psufinder/default.aspx , i selected your cpu, gpu and 2 hdds with mild cpu/gpu ocs and it stated the two psus i quoted at the top.

Thats the plan, make a good job of it now and itll last for years, my current PC, bar some new HDD and a new GFX card (free care of my last job, they got us them for a christmas present woo) its last me 4 years but cant run much in the way of new games very well.

hmm more than 500w might be an idea, should have a look about for one of those wattage calcualtors and see what it comes up with, maybe later lol.

Just a heads up there are Sata 2 Seagate drives of 750GB going for about £50, I bought mine on Aria as a deal of the day, but ive seen them bopping around everywhere, with a 5 year manufacturers warranty may be worth looking out for them.

Are you going to make full use of a Quad core?...If not maybe look at a Duo.

Also the Ram you want to get some 8500 or faster really.

Imo go for a OC’ed  8800 over a 9800 (9800 are a bit of a con really unless you go for the dual GPU cards)

Go for a better cooler as well, worth the money even if to only run it at its lowest setting for reduced noise if your not going to OC.

I would be looking at 600 from any decent manufacture :)

Also if your going to Overclock the system which would be kind of silly not to, go for the 1066 quad core 2.4 g0, its guaranteed at 3ghz everytime, just follow the system rule of thumb, IP35 mobo and 8500 ram, the easy way is to go over to overclockers, and check their systems, they list the full names of all the bits used in their systems :P

Quote Overclockers

Quote
- Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 GO 2.40GHz Quad Core CPU Overclocked too a minimum of 3.30GHz and beyond. (8/9 x 400MHz - 1600MHz FSB)
- Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro Intel approved cooler
- Arctic Silver 5 Heatsink compound professionally hand installed by our technicians
- Abit IP35-Pro Intel P35 (Socket LGA775) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard
- Award winning OCZ 2GB Reaper PC2-8500 CAS5 (2x1GB) Dual Channel Kit (Overclocked at 1000MHz+) (Note when upgrading to 4GB overclock drops to 3.25GHz on CPU)

They use the TX650 PSU -  Corsair TX 650W Next Generation Power Supply

This rings true, as i said before i was going for an 8800GT or if i find a GTS 512mb on special ill go for that if the price is right, but the reality is you can get a Zotac 8800GT for under £100 at Ebuyer. Tekheads were also doing their generic gt think it was a Palit but they recently changed it to another brand, ill find it now :P

Thanks for the info guys, that PSU looks like itll be enough so thats that.  Looks like Ill definetly need it as my current one is definetly on the blink took ages to get my PC started up tonight.

Might have to knock the hard drive on the head as well just to keep some costs down for now, will have to think about that one, £50 for a 750 is rather cheap, will have to look on Aria never thought about them.

Should have mentioned that I dont overclock, dont like the idea so never will.

Graphics card wise Im only saving around £10-20 going for a 8800 GTS and ok the 9800 GTX isnt that much faster at all.  Still will have a look around see whats going on special offers around the place.

Cooling, always heard that the Arctic Freezer 7 Pro was a good air cooler, any other recomendations if its not so hot?

Thanks for the help guys.

PSU - FSP700 or Corsair HX520 or VX550

Graphics - Drop the 9800GTX idea, buy yourself a vanilla 8800GT, you can get those for £100

Cooling - Just use the retail cooler you get with the cpu, really no need to change it unless your going to OC. If you really want to upgrade then the Arctic Cooling one comes recommended by many people, and its not so pricy either :)

PSU - Enermax Modu+82.

Before you discount it because its an Enermax check this review:

http://www.silentpcreview.com/article806-page1.html

These guys are as methodical as you can get. For me itd be this, a PCP&C or Seasonic. The Corsair the others are mentioning is a very well balanced re badged/modified Seasonic.
