Laptop Advice.
on: August 23, 2006, 15:19:14 PM
My girlfriends Toshiba Satellite A30 is on the way out as it keeps over-heating , so have to use a program to lower the cpu speed. this means i cant format it.

So shes asked me to look for a new laptop for her. She doesnt use it for anything heavy, just word, internet, watching movies and burning cd/dvds.

Really looking for something better than the A30.

What would youre advice be?

cheers

crack the lappy open, clean out the Heatsink, screw it back together and youll probably have no issues.

Im finding this a lot lately, mainly down to the fac tlaptops ar emor common.  Same problem as on a desktop machine, just a little more fiddly to fix.

Could just need cleaning mate. Rip the laptop open, remove the heatsink give it a good going at with a air duster and a toothbrush, apply fresh artic silver to the processor, and replace heatsink. :) Also give the dust filter meshes a good clean out :)

Edit: Ahh... theres a lot that can be said for scrolling down, Beaker said it before me :D
