DVD/cd Drives

My Master and slave drive has stopped working, if I boot into Vista they are ok, very wierd.

theres shouldnt be any need for master/slave in this day & age. Put them on cable select. They run a quicker that way as well

Not used master/slave for years, since sata you can have 2 master drives, and I always use cable/select.
Have you uninstalled the IDE controllers and let xp reinstall them? Thats if xp is your other os.

I cant do the jumpers anymore, so Ill have to leave it, since I posted this, I fixed it by formatting, it was OK, but now its the same.

My brother had a similar issue with his USB ports, Windaz wasnt recognising them properly so I removed them and then did a search, when it reinstalled the things they came up and worked. Probably a corrupted driver.

The drives are still there and the drives work, but before like any PC, when putting a disc in, it comes up with a option, that has gone and removing the disc, the DVD reader, doesnt go blank.
