faulty graphics card?
on: February 10, 2008, 11:00:00 AM
seem to be getting some funny dots on my screen, it mostly happens on blue backgrounds (like tekforums) but it does it on some other colours too. the dots stay in the same place and spread when you scroll so i get lines then. ill try and get a screeny.

its a couple of day old geforce7600 that is standard.

on my lappy now and can see the lines in that screeny, so that means it a problem with the memory side of the graphics card doesnt it?

Sounds like the old memory issue when the heatpads are crap or not on the chips properly causing overheating and faults, or just faulty plain and simple

it boots into windows ok as i hear the startup music and it shuts down ok when i press the front panel button too.

ive tried re-setting the bios and re-seating the card.

power socket plugged into the card OK?  Ive had faulty power outputs on PSUs before.  They work fine until you disturb them.
