Friends Computer Keeps turning off....

My friends computer was built for him around 18months ago, and has been spot on.

But recently its been turning itself off. So if you turn it back on, after a while it turns off again......the time it stays on for after you turn it back on reduces everytime though.....

Any ideas what it could be? Heat related to the CPU?

Is that a characteristic of them breaking? Turning off, then keep turning off sooner and sooner?

not really, but it may not be putting enough juice through to the mobo.
Change what you can without spending money & decide from there.

Check the fans and heat sinks just in case. Make sure they are clean. I had one of these just last year and the overheating was caused simply because of fluff.

Check in the bios too and check if its got a temperature alarm.

Yea sounds like overheating or alarm turn of set to low or faulty tempsensor or a lot of dust :)
