Move over Google
on: October 16, 2006, 22:52:10 PM
So Im fed up with my Google homepage. It works well but its time for a change.

So I chose a few other potential hps and have been testing em out til I got bored/annoyed enough to change them.

www.hotbot.co.uk

+ Funky Colour scheme & you got the choice of several designs
+ Custom Web Filters that you can save
+ "Chocolate" gets a nice mix of places to buy choccys and sites with facts/info on chocolate
+ Can exlude sites from being returned, like you can easily filter out all the review sites like dooyoo.

- If you put the UK filter on with the co.uk page you dont get any results. Confusing but its redundant.
- Too many sponsored links top & bottom. If these could be filtered out itd be a real contender.

www.yahoo.co.uk

+ Lots of stuff on the page
+ Good set of results on 1st page
+ You can change the colour!!

- Lots of stuff on the page
- I gotta check the UK button everytime
- Gotta press enter twice?
- Slow

http://www.live.com/?searchonly=true (windows live)

+ Its the most googlish
+ It seems to lean towards uk sites, knowing thats where I am
+ The image search is awesome, really cool
+ Local finds stuff near me if I sign in and theres a map and stuff too

- Can only click "uk only" after searching for a term
- News is a bit meh..

Pants off to Microsoft, theyve done a good job
I know sh*ts bad right now with all that starving bullsh*t and the dust storms and we are running out of french fries and burrito coverings.
