A typical drive doesnt last as long as they used to.
Ive still got some old Connor 20MBs, some 8-20Gbs Fujis etc and they all work fine.

Ask me about my stack of dead 250gbs

It seems that if you get a modern drive past the first 12 months chances are itll be a keeper that will just keep going and going. But to get to the decent drives youll have to wade through dozens of RMAs first, or just be very very lucky.

^^^

ohhhhhh

know of anyone else already doing it ?  so i can have a read around before I fork out on the drives !

(google isnt giving me much)

Go to their website. Not sure in regard to reviews.

They stopped the flash memory overwriting the same area and it now writes to a new one, deleted files are marked and not overwritten until much later. That makes it more reliable, the problem is writing repeatedly causes degradation, reading doesnt.

hmmmm

I guess a few of them in raid 0 would be ok then....

but to keep them going Id have to have all the stuff I download etc.. go onto a seperate drive... just have programs etc... on the SSD....

the problem is... the programs might run lickity-split... but if all your films etc.. are on a normal drive... theyll still run slow the programs down (and they are prob. 75% of my computer use)

That link I sent you, that drive basically acts like a speed buffer SSD and you wont loose any data when in raid with your other drives.
