Has massive potential but also I can see how it would be very hard to develop and can very easily be crap as an MMO this but as a game has the potential to be the best as well.
Very fine line, great story and concept to work with and being space massive opportunity to have a ship build it up go attack over peoples ships etc, could be great fun.

I read somewhere that the company in charge of this recently went bust, or something and were selling off this game, i also heard that a large well known media giant has bought the rights for it, and now its going to be changed from the original plans to aim it at the casual gamer, ofc this could all be bullsh*t but im sure someone here can confirm this. :)

Not exactly true
The previous company went bust and this new one took over and the media company has put money into it (rumour is its the one making the new movie) But the game is still full steam but someone has saw its potential and basically bought into it to make money from it as well.

The changes from the original MMO happened twice already, what In that vid was released this week and is staying

Ive lost interest in this since they starting the "dumbing down" process. In all fairness I can understand why they have had to chop a lot of features, it seemed from the word go that they had clearly been far too ambitious when planning what they wanted to do with the game. Ill still try it when it is released, and Ill be applying to join the beta, however I cant get excited about it anymore. Between Pirates of the Burning Sea and City of Heroes/City of Villains I have enough "lite" MMOs to choose from, I was hoping Star Trek Online would be a bit more hardcore and intensive, alas that wont be the case now.

With the awful casting for the new movie and the MMO being chopped to bits (this happening after the sham that was Enterprise and the farce of Star Trek Legacy) the future for the Trek franchise doesnt look good. To be honest theyd be better killing off Trek completely for a decade or so and bringing it back in the future for a complete overhaul.

Everyones going to want to be the Enterprise, eh.

Agree with the film/casting. Did they not learn how crap Enterprise was, probably because it did not move forward in time like each successive series did.
