What car.
on: March 22, 2012, 20:25:49 PM
Seeing as my Subaru is a bit of a scrote magnet, it has to go.
Budget of £1500, has to be smart and quick.
Saloons or coupes are fine, not overly concerned by mpg.

Been looking at:
Volvo c70 T5
Jaguar x/s types
Mg zt 190
Focus st170 - Trounced by Leon for same spec/price
Leon cupra

any other choices?

I really think so

Another Lexus?
Galant?

Didn't someone on here have an Accord Type-R? might be a stretch though.

I was thinking something Type-R when I suggested that but thought it would be out of budget too. My mate's dad had a Type R accord that sold for just under 5k I think (lovely car though, especially when you put your foot down)

Most family sized jap cars are pretty boring.
Not got enough for a supra, and the soarer is very expensive for basic suspension parts.
The is200 is too slow and the is300 is too expensive.
All the non turbo skylines are too slow and I've not seen any galant vr4 within budget.
I'm not a fan of the vtechs so that rules out hot Hondas.
Don't want another subaru, so that rules out most jap cars.

You can't get a Seat you know because its a VAG and we all know how much you hate VAG, i mean you have told me enough times.  :muttley:

Why not look out for something running LPG, something fun perhaps like a V6/V8 or a large TDI 3/530D? or even a 330i? Failing that just pickup a nice Prelude 2.2, it doesn't have the same chavvy following as the civic.

Knighty showed me a jag 2000 plate on ebay the other day that sold for like under £1000, it was lovely, it was also a 3.0 V6 Diesel and the refinements of luxury motor

The reason I don't like Seat/Volkswagen stuff is because people seem to think that they have an overinflated worth.
There's no real difference between a Golf and a Focus, but some people are brand snobs.

Good shout on the prelude, also looking at the 328/5/3

A nice e36 3 series coupe would be what I was looking at.

I had an Accord Type R for 5 years, best car I've ever had, which is significant as I've since owned a mk5 Golf GTi, a Civic Type R (ep3) and a post facelift S2000 GT.

I just realised after googling it was prelude that I meant, not the accord.

Tbh, I've washed it and put the alloys on and I'm back to liking the car again.

Of course there is, one has a nice VW badge on and the other has a grotty Ford one.

although mostly it's perception in the eye of the beholder. VW haven't been top of the customer satisfaction lists for quite some time.
