Yeah, the Delicas are available under £2k, and better than any poncy 4x4 estate

In the recent snow in sheffield, I was out and un-sticking people and generally going up the steepest, snowiest hills I could find to avoid the traffic.
They have a proper 4x4 system, selectable 2wd (that drives the rear wheels) low range and diff lock.
They have strange names like Jasper, Chamonix, Exceed etc, but that is just trim level.
The Royal Exceed is the top of the range, but as they are all imported, the spec is very different.
Easy to have an extra 2" ground clearance if you want to add bigger tyres.

Better off road, slightly more reliable. Butt Ugly.

Not quite so good off road, very spacious, slightly less reliable.
Biggest problem is the fuel pump seal. A very costly job.
L400 is available in LWB and SWB.
Easiest way to tell, the rear side windows are the same size as the middle ones, and you can lay the seats down flat without taking the headrests off. All seats lay flat, making a bed.
