Really, I like to get out of my car and refuel and get some fresh air at the same time.

Dunno about you but when I fill my car up the air certainly isnt fresh! Mind you, I love the smell of petrol in the morning...

If it was my car...Itd kill that machine. My car seems to have some kind of design flaw in the petrol hole thing, no matter which pump I use at whatever station, I can only fill it up at a trickle, anything faster will trip the pumps "full tank" sensor thing :( Tis annoying. Its only a small car that takes a max of £30 at todays prices (from empty) yet it takes me longer to fill it up than the 4x4 putting in £50 of petrol in front of me!

The breather hose at the filler neck is blocked.

now why couldnt I have mentioned that my old car used to do this, Mark could have solved all my problems (well, assuming that hes right and that I have very few non-fuel related problems anyway).

Also ... at what point to you tell it how much fuel you want?

Itd be nice if you could do that on normal pumps. Type in how much you want in whole £s and then chill til its done instead of spending ages gawking at the figures and then edging up to the point between £39.99 and £40.01.
I know sh*ts bad right now with all that starving bullsh*t and the dust storms and we are running out of french fries and burrito coverings.

ahhh... but asda credit card pumps do that.... but you always end up going a bit over.... theyre suposed to stop you at £70 but £70.19 is normal :o

also... as i was typing that... i realised.... Ive seen pumps like that before !  where you had to press buttons to say how much you wanted !

(cant remember where tho :( )

See guys you may be saying "wow thats pointless" and "I like getting out of the car for a stretch" but your not thinking... This will be alot of americans wet dream, one more thing they dont have to get out of the car for to go along with the drive in banks, food, shops, clothes cleaning etc.

Its more economical to drive with 3/4 of a tank well most places say 1/3 of a tank. But its pennies really?

What about that little bit of spillage you always get and it destroys your paint or plastic trim! Stupid thing to design!

in theory surely it would be best to run as low as possible a la F1 cars (carry enough fuel for the laps you plan to do + a bit), but in practice 60l of petrol weighs about 45KG. Itll be less than half the difference in MPG between running alone and with another person in the car.

Id quite like it....

arm out of window with credit card, then sit back and read a book /  relax for a few min while it fills it up, would make a nice change from my usual rushing around !

Erm, impressive, but it is solving a problem that does not exist.

Honestly that machine hardly filled with me confidence the way it slowly grabbed the fuel nozzle as if it was hot coal.  It almost reminded me of one of the dodgy future robocop models.

Am I the only one that found it quite like a dodgy porno around 1:13 when the nozzle penetrated the car?! :heehaw:

A lot of pumps in America are already semi-automatic - you whack it in the hole and squeeze the triggery thing and itll pump til you stop it or it hits full.

Theres also a lot more "static" discharge related fires there too.

Nozzle catches fire, person pulls out nozzle, nozzle sprays flaming petrol out across the forecourt.

this used to happen on the prelude, turning the pump 180° so its upside down helped a lot.

Just what I was thinking. If it happened to me, the split second before I blew up or burned to death, Id be thinking "Heh, Ive got a flamethrower!"

Followed by owowowowowow....
