Its a MSO spreadsheet (works just fine with Gnumeric).

Has most hubs and rims, but you can always look ERD and other stuff up on the web if its missing.

For example, if I wanted to build up some 700c wheels for the Raleigh, I could probably get away with buying a box of 72 290mm spokes, and lacing 2X front, 3X rear. :D If I was using classic polished Sun CR18s, a more classy choice, it works out to 292mm spokes as they have a lower more traditional profile. :ptu:

Ive been obsessed with learning all about this stuff recently. Leading, trailing, when you can go radial, etc. Finally wrapped my brain around most of it. "The Knowledge" just fell mostly into place. Ding!

Well, Im looking to sell an old Les Paul Jr. guitbox today, and will be using the cashola to get some wheel bits for the two girlie bikes. You can download spokecalc and see if I got the measurements right:

Irene the Raleigh gets:

2 Alex X404 rims, 27" 27mm wide
72 Wheel Master SS spokes 296mm 2x front 3x rear

Helga gets:
1 sun CR18 black rim in 700c
36 Wheel Master 22 spokes 288mm radially laced (steel hub, so cracking aint gonna happen)

:w00t: Ill see if Dan at REI can order me at wholesale prices and I may get three wheels done for $70. :D Not the fanciest stuff, but fine in context.

w00t! Im getting a free set of 700c wheels to cannibalize via craigslist. :D Just need a new tube and Ive got enough garage bits n spokes n crap to finish one bike on the cheap. :D

Irenes getting these tires in 27 x 1 1/4:

$7 each!

and the rims are only $10/per. Had to get single wall as theyre the only wide ones that work with the OEM brakes (pads upgraded to koolstop, of course):

Total cost so far to upgrade both bikes to aluminum rims, ss spokes, and new tires as needed: $50 :ptu:

Was going to convert all to 700c to be consistent, but I really really like 27" wheels. So...huge! :D Anyway, I can still use the same tubes across the board. Will probably get grommets and use presta valves with the Raleigh.

F**king vegan. Seriously. I hate them. Dan fell through, as he insisted that I get Sun CR18s, despite that their narrowness would require sourcing new brakes as standard Raleigh cant handle 18mm. He refused to order anything other than DT spokes for me, as "its a safety issue"....basically, he proved to be a real twat. So its true what they say about vegans, full of untruthy dogmatism. F**k them. Im now a friend lighter. Should have know better than to trust somebody that dont eat the Q.

Ordered from aebike in Michigan: 2 X404 rims, 2 Continental UltraSport 27x1 1/4" tires, and 2 Tektro LP/Canti brake levers. $80 and worth every cent over dealing with a patronizing veg-head.

Did I mention that I hate vegans? Its an ideological disease. Im quite serious, the lifestyle is a red flag that says, "Ive lost the ability to reason".

Building on the original spokes, as the ERD is identical, so just slap one rim on top of another and swappity swap. Yeah, theyre  boring zinc, but have zero corrosion. Got the Contis instead of the Vittorias, simply because they were the same price, have a less tacky logo, and 4x the thread count. I dread mounting them.

Note to self: Stay away from vegans.

Last conti 1 1/4s I mounted were fine.  About 999999999 times easier than the Vittorias I stuck on the SS, but I   the tacky logo!

And yeah, vegans make me want to eat pets.

Ended up with the Vittorias as they were out of stock of the Contis. Just as well, my confidence in Continental rubber is next to zero, just thought Id give them a last chance before I totally write them off. The Zaffiros get great marks for durability and puncture resistance, so Im looking forward to that! But the dang logo!
