Hello boys and girls, today we're going to cover the dark art of ghetto mountain bike repairs.

We'll cover -

  • Chain Slap Prevention
  • Puncture avoidance
  • Makeshift Headset Seals

1. Chain Slap Prevention.

Using an old innertube as a chainstay protector

2. Puncture Avoidance.

Take an old, dead innertube and cut out around the valve.
Slit it all the way round, so you're left with a round innertube, but cut open.
Place this over your current innertube and then put it back in the wheel.
Inflate as normal.

This will give you an extra layer against shart on the road/trails.

3. Makeshift Headset Seals

Using another old headset, cut out two 1.5" - 2" sections.
Remove the forks from your bike.
Once removed, slot the innertube sections over the headset cups and onto the frame.
Re-assemble the front end.
Slide the innertube sections back over the cups.
