Started my riding with the cheapest lid i could afford £35 from lidl, was EU passed so legal and that was all i wanted... then i had an off

Decided i should probably get something a little more pricey incase next time its worse so..

Just got a Shoei RAID 2 and the difference is galactic, didnt think there would be much between them tbh but wow.. awesome! Comfy, lighter, approved for racing and EU road use, lovely thing really, bit worried ill have to replace it tho if i do come off again, cant be going through them at £185 a pop!

Anyway to conclude Shoei RAID II  :ptu:

I had a Raid II and loved it, served me well for 2 years until I went head 1st into a Wall... Served me well then aswell!

I always end up spending out on my helmets, after a days riding you really notice the difference when you have been wearing a light weight well ventilated lid. (My current enduro helmet is a AUS$720 Thor Force Carbon Fibre one)

Your bike insurance should cover kit if you have an off, or at least the other persons should.

To be honest end of the day you cant just choose a brand and be done with it. Most brands of lids are different shapes and sizes, you should go try and load on and see which feels best then buy that one :)

The Shoei & Thor lids are very similar shaped / sized and both fit me very well :)

The only brands I like are Arai and OGK

Any of the others I tried didnt feel as good, or as quiet. The OGK is slightly louder because of the lip, but the Arai is deadly quiet
