Presta Presto

Worlds shortest training ride today. Rode three blocks and heard the hissing. Total valve stem failure and no spare tubes. :( Rats. If you ride a lot like me with presta tubes, might as well replace them yearly. The detachment was likely age related.

I think Presta valves suck big French Bollox, personally. Why cant they make a decent Schrader-like (car-type) valve thats compact and light? I hate trying to "push-fit" the pump adaptor onto the valve, its crap. They leak and they break and if you screw the easy-lose caps on hard enough, the valve breaks through the top!
Its like buying a Ferrari and making so you can only pump the wheels up by hand

I like them a hell of a lot more than schrader, tbh. This tube just had something like 10K on it, I should have replaced it a year ago. Schrader sucks as you have to have a pokey thingy in the pump, and on a totally flat tire, it can be challenging to not pokey it all the way past the rim hole. Bring back the Dunlop valve I say! :D

prefer shraeder here.

Admittedly it can be difficult on a full flat tyre, but just do what I do... push the tyre in at the valve stem bit so keep the valve pointing out the hole as you push the pump attachment on.

Simple, as its completely flat, tyre = floppy and easy to push :)

Presta is just an arse, with the twisty thing that I have no idea what you do with, I end up pushing the pin in with my hand and then just jamming it in the shraeder end of my foot pump.
